On Friday May 26th, Second Harvest, alongside Daily Bread Food Bank and North York Harvest Food Bank hosted its 15th annual Joint Agency Training Workshop. The event took place in downtown Toronto at the Toronto Kiwanis Boys & Girls Club, and featured workshops on topics such as: ‘Fundraising 101’, ‘How To Be Politically Engaged When Chronically Busy’, ‘Food Waste Management at the Agency Level’, and ‘Ontario’s Basic Income: What Agencies and Clients Need to Know’ to name a few.
Over 100 participants attended the event, representing 59 of our collective partnering agencies. One of the highlights of the event was having our Senior Manager of Corporate and Community Partnerships, Jordan Mlynek, speak about soliciting local corporate sponsorship. Her talk was both informative and engaging, and received noteworthy positive feedback from the audience. Further, a highpoint of the day was hearing two of our Community Chefs, Tessa White (PARC) and Seema David (5n2 Soup Kitchens) speak about food processing to reduce food waste in community kitchen programs.
Thank you to everyone that attended, and a special thank you to Daily Bread Food Bank and North York Harvest Food Bank for continuing to work with us to deliver quality workshops and training sessions to our communities.
