Job Summary

Reporting to the Development Manager, the Development Coordinator is responsible for ensuring exceptional donor cultivation and stewardship. The Development Coordinator engages colleagues across the department and the organization in ongoing efforts to ensure supporters are appreciated, recognized and given opportunities to become more directly engaged with our mission and the impact of their support. Supporting day-to-day development operations to ensure the timely and appropriate cultivation, solicitation, and acknowledgement of all donor segments, this role is focused on both high-touch actions such as thank you calls, notes and letters, as well as on the data coordination necessary to provide excellent stewardship to high volumes of stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of best fundraising practices and the importance of ensuring exceptional donor experiences.


Key Responsibilities:

Cultivation and Stewardship

  • Executes timely and effective stewardship actions, including writing thank you notes and letters, making thank you calls, fulfilling honorarium requests and assigning stewardship activities to senior staff and volunteers when appropriate
  • Participates in the design of, and leads the fulfillment of the donor welcome experience in order to ensure that all new donors are effectively acknowledged and informed of the impact of their support
  • Collaborates with key colleagues to maintain and update all channels in which donors are recognized, including donor lists, logo recognition on trucks and website, and in print and digital newsletters
  • Works with key staff to develop, plan and execute donor cultivation and stewardship events
  • Fields donor inquiries and complaints, escalating to appropriate persons and/or departments and keeping track of these touchpoints in the database
  • Other duties as assigned

Individual Fundraising

  • Coordinates and maintains online philanthropy platforms in order to provide a seamless online donation experience across all individual fundraising activities
  • Administers the monthly giving program, including stewardship of new monthly partners and supporting campaigns to convert annual supporters to monthly donors
  • Other duties as assigned

Data Coordination

  • Coordinates mailing lists for both print and digital solicitations and communications, ensuring consistent data integrity and quality
  • Ensures that solicitation and communication tracking history is maintained in the database
  • Other duties as assigned

General Development Support

  • Administrative support for the Development department
  • Other duties as assigned


  • 1-2 years of experience working in a fundraising capacity
  • A post-secondary degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience working with a donor management database


  • Exemplary donor service and relationship management skills
  • Strong information and data management skills
  • Solid interpersonal and diplomacy skills
  • Enthusiastic team player with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
