Do you want to be a Hero?

Our Second Harvest Hero fundraising campaign is officially underway! Each year, over 150 workplaces, schools and community groups across the GTA, hold a variety of fundraising initiatives (from delicious potluck lunches, to raffle sales, dress-down days and everything in between) in support of our food rescue and delivery program.

By running a workplace fundraising campaign in support of Second Harvest, YOU will be a Hero to people in need across the city. Did you know that over 370,000 children, adults and seniors experience hunger in Toronto on a daily basis?  Our goal this year is to raise $300,000, the equivalent of 600,000 nutritious meals.

How can you get involved?

  • Register to run a fundraiser at your workplace/school. The key is to choose an activity (or combination of events) that everyone will enjoy.   Download our Toolkit for tips and ideas for a successful campaign.
  • Volunteer for one of our TTC Hero Days on February 15 and 22, where you will be spreading awareness and helping us collect funds from commuters. Teams can easily raise up to $2,000 or more in just a few hours, making an enormous impact in the community
  • Purchase tickets for our exciting Hero raffle. This year’s prizes include an all-inclusive Caribbean dream vacation, a fully-catered, luxury suite to watch a Blue Jays game, trips to Vegas and Montreal, and so much more.

We will provide you with everything you need to run a successful fundraiser, including a customized website to track and collect donations, a fun kit with Hero masks and capes, and support along the way.

Follow us on our social channels here, here and here, to stay up to date on exciting Hero initiatives during the month of February and be sure to look out for the TORONTO sign at City Hall on February 15, and the CN Tower on February 22, when they will be lit up in green, in support of our campaign.
