Second Harvest Scores Food and Funds

Thanks to the Five Hole for Food ball hockey tournament for helping Second Harvest score!

Taking place on July 8th at Yonge-Dundas Square, the Five Hole for Food tournament raised $1,851 and 362 lbs of food for Second Harvest. Together, the food and funds donated will provide 4,064 meals to Torontonians in need.

Braving the heat, more than 100 people, including TSN commentator Bob McKenzie and several corporate teams such as Urban Barn and Teranet, showed their support for food rescue. With three ball hockey floors open to players, the afternoon was action packed.

While many teams pre-registered, including a team fielded by Second Harvest staff, there were plenty of opportunities to join the fun. With drop-ins and single players encouraged, many new friends and future teammates were made throughout the day.

Thank you to everyone who came to support Second Harvest, to Five Hole for Food for organizing the event, and to Nature’s Path, who donated 10,000 lbs of organic cereal to Second Harvest’s food rescue program plus an additional box of cereal each time someone tweeted, shared or re-tweeted the hashtag #EatWellDoGood.
