We have events all year round. Find the short-term role where you can make a difference and together we’ll create a community with ‘No Waste. No Hunger.’
Volunteers are stationed at Loblaw locations across Toronto to ask customers to purchase a turkey and donate it to Second Harvest. The turkeys will be distributed, through our agencies, to people in need during the holiday season. Tasks include handing out flyers, helping customers pick out frozen turkeys, loading donated turkeys onto our Second Harvest trucks and dressing up as our turkey mascot! This is a great way to give back during the holiday season!
Our biggest fundraiser of the year, Toronto Taste is also the city’s premier culinary event with more than 60 chefs and 30 beverage purveyors serving all-you-can-eat tastes to 1,500 guests. It requires more than 400 volunteers for setup, teardown, auction assistance, catering assistance, pre-event support, and more. Find out more about Toronto Taste.
Event day roles include: Auction Attendant, Auction Cash-Out, Catering/Bussing, Chef Check In, Florals, Guest Entrance, Info Table, Live Auction Spotters, Media Check In, Operations Crew, Event Set Up, Site Tear Down, Volunteer Check In, Traffic/Parking Attendants, and more.
Every year, teams of Second Harvest volunteers gather in TTC stations & PATH locations to raise funds and awareness for Second Harvest. It’s a great teambuilding opportunity, and shifts are short and easy to complete before or after work, even during lunch! Click here for dates and locations
Represent Second Harvest at events around the GTA by working the information table or helping with other general tasks, including silent auctions, ticket sales and collecting donations. Volunteers should be approachable, outgoing and comfortable promoting Second Harvest and food rescue awareness. Training is provided.
*Please note: Recruitment for this program will begin May 2018
Spend a weekday during the summer to help make hundreds of delicious and lunches for children attending city camps.
