Summer Fundraising Activities for the Whole Family

This summer, consider getting the whole family involved in organizing your own fundraiser for Second Harvest! This is a great way to bring kids and adults together and add an extra level of meaning to fun summertime activities you may already by planning.

Here are some fun ideas:

  • Organize a lemonade stand in front of your home. Or, ask a local business in a higher-traffic area to let you set up in front of their location for more visitors! Great for kids of all ages, with adult supervision.
  • Declutter your home with a charity yard sale. Kids can help by choosing what they’re like to sell, adding price stickers, and older kids can even be in charge of the cash.
  • Turn your family or neighbourhood BBQ into a fundraiser by asking for a small donation from guests. Enter everyone who gives a donation into a draw to win a fun prize.
  • Throw an ECHOAge birthday party! When guests provide a donation instead of gifts, half will go towards a meaningful gift for the birthday girl or boy, and the other half goes to Second Harvest.

By organizing a fundraising activity, kids of all ages will learn the importance of giving back as well as entrepreneurial skills and self-confidence. What better way to gain a sense of accomplishment than knowing that you were able to make a difference in someone’s life. Every dollar that you raise provides two healthy meals for people in need.
