Food Rescue Community Ambassador

Foodrescue.ca is a website created by Second Harvest that connects food donors directly with social service organizations that supply healthy, fresh food to those experiencing food insecurity.  This role will help us recruit local food businesses to use the program and network with local associations, BIA’s, etc.  For a full job description, please contact Ashley Ferguson at ashleyf@secondharvest.ca

Team Leader

We are always looking for individuals that are comfortable leading a team of volunteers at our events, such as Turkey Drive, Hero Day and Toronto Taste. Team Leads are responsible for training volunteers on site, providing guidance throughout the shift and act as a liaison with Second Harvest staff.  Previous volunteer experience and knowledge of Second Harvest is preferred.  Training will be provided.

Toronto Taste Committee Member

Toronto Taste is our largest signature event which takes place in early June.  Positions range from full term (5+ months) to event day leadership support. We are looking for individuals to help in one of the following ways: Catering Logistics, Chef & Beverage Logistics, Entertainment, Silent & Wine Auction, Sales/Ticketing Promotion, Site Logistics, and more.  To learn more about these roles, please contact Ashley Ferguson at ashleyf@secondharvest.ca

Driver Assistants

Volunteers in this position help our drivers make pick-ups from our food donors by loading donated food onto the trucks, as well as deliver food to community agencies in Toronto.

Shifts: Monday-Friday 7:45am to approximately 3:00pm, Saturday: 8:30am – 3:00pm, Sunday 9:00am – 3:00pm (All shifts start and end at Second Harvest).
Requirements: Minimum of 16 years of age and must be able to lift a maximum of 30 lbs.
Commitment: 3 month placement with 2-3 shifts per month.

Office Assistants

Volunteers with office-related experience to support us day to day.  We offer a variety of opportunities such as data entry, research, outreach and event administration.  Interested applicants should be able to make a long term commitment (at least 3 months). Training is provided.

Shifts: Monday-Friday anytime between 9:00am – 5:00pm, flexible scheduling.
Requirements: Experience with office administration is preferred.
Commitment: 3 months minimum

Second Harvest Community Leader

Represent Second Harvest in the community through public speaking and outreach initiatives, including volunteer fairs, trade shows, community events and more. Volunteers should have proven leadership skills, passion for food rescue and an outgoing personality. Training will be provided.

Volunteer Drivers

Using your own vehicle and knowledge of the city, help Second Harvest to pick up donated items. Busy time of year for this role is February to May.

Requirements: Must own or have access to vehicle, a valid G class license and automobile insurance.
