What was The Second Harvest Hero Truck Pull Challenge?

The Second Harvest Hero Truck Pull Challenge was a one-of-a-kind race that put strength and teamwork to the test. Teams of 10 competed to pull a 20,000-pound delivery truck across Nathan Phillips Square in the fastest time, raising funds for Second Harvest’s food rescue and redistribution efforts.

Date & Location: Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Nathan Phillips Square

Event Duration: 10:30 a.m.– 4 p.m.

Wave Times: 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The 2023 Second Harvest Hero Truck Pull Challenge was a corporate team challenge that was open to public spectators.
Truck Pull was a competition to see which team can pull a Second Harvest delivery truck across Nathan Phillips Square in the fastest time. Teams compete head-to-head in a tournament format.

There were 4 wave times staggered throughout the day. Each wave had a total of 9 teams split into 3 heats. The winners of each heat competed in the final round to take home gold, silver, or bronze medals.

There were lots of other optional activities to take part in on-site throughout the day!
Each team was assigned a wave time. There were 4 wave times that were set up throughout the day. The first wave began at 10:30 a.m. and the last at 1:30 p.m. You were expected to be at the event for a minimum of 2 hours. While we appreciated all requests, the earlier you registered, the easier it was to accommodate them.
  • Assemble a team of 10 people and register your team.
  • Raise $2,000 to reserve a lane for your team – your fundraising will help provide food for over 4,000 meals!
  • Get ready to compete against Toronto’s top teams to pull a truck 100 feet across Nathan Phillips Square.

A fun and engaging team-bonding experience and the opportunity to connect with our community of passionate supporters. You could also cheer for your favourite team and take part in other fun activities at the event.

There was also a farmers’ market, with fresh produce from Toronto Wholesale Produce Association. All proceeds went towards Second Harvest’s food rescue and redistribution efforts.

Plus, complimentary food, drinks and massages were available on-site for all participants!
Once your team raised the minimum of $2,000, there are no additional fees to register for the challenge.
