Feeding Our Future

Getting nutritious lunches to kids who need them for a happy, healthy summer.

Bridging the gap from June to September

Feeding Our Future was launched in 2012 and has grown to become Canada’s largest free summer lunch program. School food programming is an essential part of childhood nutrition and to ensure children don’t go without during the summer months, Feeding Our Future was created.

Second Harvest has delivered 551,221 lunches to children accessing free or subsidized summer camps across the city.

During the pandemic, the program evolved from supporting children and youth attending day camps with healthy bag lunches, to takeaway kits for families. We were able to deliver 41,395 kits to summer camps.

NOTE: There is limited ability to meet special food needs (e.g. allergies). To note, we can produce vegetarian sandwiches, however they are not always vegan. None of the lunches include pork. Lunches include sandwich, snack and a beverage.

IMPORTANT: The number of lunches is limited. Please be as accurate as possible regarding the number of lunches needed so we can determine how many programs can participate. Also, please take into account the number of days that you do NOT need lunches i.e. field trips, BBQ’s etc.  The program will begin on Tuesday July 4th, 2023 and end of Friday August 25th. Second Harvest is CLOSED August 7th for the Civic Holiday. Please return this form no later than Wednesday May 31st, 2023. Any questions about the program can be directed to feedingourfuture@secondharvest.ca
