A Year of Incredible Progress

Over the past year, we not only met, but surpassed the ambitious targets of our three-year strategic plan. Thanks to your unwavering support, Second Harvest rescued and redistributed 87.1 million pounds of surplus food—far exceeding our original goal of 72 million pounds by 2025.

Rescuing this amount of food led to significant environmental and community impact:

  • 288 million pounds of greenhouse gases averted from the atmosphere
  • 59.3 billion litres of water saved from waste
  • 245,000 meals provided daily to those in need
  • 6.5 million people supported through 4,400 non-profit partners

This collective effort is a powerful testament to the strength of collaboration in fighting hunger and food waste across Canada.

Looking Ahead

As we plan for the year ahead, Second Harvest is excited to continue driving change. Some key focus areas for the coming year include:

  • Scaling our food rescue operations to reach even more rural and remote areas.
  • Expanding our educational programs to promote food sustainability and waste reduction.
  • Advocating for stronger policies that address systemic food insecurity in Canada.

Thank you for being a vital part of this journey. Together, we can rescue more food, nourish more people and protect our planet for generations to come.
