Been a Slice Beer

Let’s grab a beer and talk about this beer…

Been A Slice beer is the brain child (the grain child?) of Toronto creative agency Bob’s Your Uncle, Common Good Beer Company, a Scarborough craft brewer, and Prairie Boy bakery in Little Italy.

Bob Froese (the Bob in Bob’s) has been an awesome partner of Second Harvest, providing us with pro bono design and advertising services. As an agency that works with food and beverage companies, Bob’s had been exploring creating their own craft beer and the idea of a beer that tasted good and did good for Second Harvest, the city, and the environment made a lot of sense.

Been A Slice uses bread that is approaching its sell-by date as the base for a citrusy lager. Bread is a major source of surplus, unsold food – stores and bakeries produce more than can be re-distributed and the rest becomes landfill and creates greenhouse gasses. Been A Slice not only uses some of this surplus, it’s starting a much-needed conversation about how the food system can be improved for the health of the planet and the end of hunger.

For a limited time, you can buy Been A Slice at select Beer Stores, LCBO stores, and restaurants beginning in early November, with proceeds going to Second Harvest. Just 500 cases will be produced so follow Second Harvest on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to find the location near you!
