COVID-19 UPDATE: Second Harvest has taken measures to ensure the health and safety of our employees, volunteers, guests and community partners. Due to COVID-19 and Public Health guidance about physical distancing, we have a limited number of in-person volunteer opportunities at this time. We are still accepting new volunteer applications which will allow you to stay informed on when more volunteer opportunities become available.
Feeding Our Future – July-August 2021
Spend a weekday morning during the summer to help assemble hundreds of food and resource kits for families with children. Our goal this year is to pack 17,000 kits over the summer which will be delivered to our partner community organizations across Toronto. Help us respond to the increase in household food insecurity during this pandemic by signing up to volunteer for Feeding Our Future. Limited to a maximum of six (6) volunteers per shift.
Shift Times: Mondays-Fridays 8:30am-12:00pm
Dates: July 5th to August 26th (vacancies will vary)
Requirements: Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. COVID-19 screening, physical distancing and masks are mandatory.

INACTIVE VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
Toronto Taste Event Volunteers – on hold due to COVID-19
Our biggest fundraiser of the year, Toronto Taste is also the city’s premier culinary event with than 50 chefs and 30 beverage purveyors serving all-you-can-eat tastes to 1,500 guests. We require the strength of over 300 volunteers for a variety of positions over event weekend. Volunteer positions include: Auction Attendant, Auction Cash-Out, Bussing, Chef Check In, Guest Entrance, Info Table, Live Auction Spotters, Event Set Up, Volunteer Registration and more.

Community Events – on hold due to COVID-19
Represent Second Harvest at events around the GTA by working the information table or helping with other general tasks, including silent auctions, ticket sales and collecting donations. Volunteers should be approachable, outgoing and comfortable promoting Second Harvest and food rescue awareness. Training is provided.
Food Collections – on hold due to COVID-19
Assist in sorting, packaging and loading surplus food at large events like trade shows and expos so it can be transported back to our warehouse for redistribution. Events occur throughout the year on an as-needed basis.
