COVID-19 RESPONSE TO VOLUNTEERING AT SECOND HARVEST
Second Harvest is taking measures to ensure the health and safety of our employees, volunteers, guests and community partners. Due to COVID-19 and Public Health guidance about physical distancing, we are postponing all in person volunteer activity at this time. We are still accepting new volunteer applications which will allow you to stay informed on when our volunteer program will resume.
Feeding Our Future – July-August 2021
Spend a weekday during the summer to help make hundreds of family food and resource kits for children attending summer programs. Last year, Second Harvest delivers over 12,000 kits to community organizations across Toronto thus ensuring children and youth could receive nutritional support during the summer. Groups of 6-8 volunteers are needed per shift.
Shift: To be determined
Requirements: Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older.
Location: Kitchen 24 – 100 Marmora St #200, North York, ON M9M 2X5
Virtual Holiday Turkey Drive – December
Turkey Drive has become a holiday tradition for so many volunteers and supporters of Second Harvest. In 2020, Turkey Drive went from an in-person volunteer opportunity and moved online to keep our volunteers, donors and staff safe. Last year, we raised over 9,000 turkeys to meet the demand from community organizations who were experiencing additional challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Register yourself or gather your family, friends classmates and colleagues to create an online team and fundraise to reach your turkey goal, just like you would in store! Earn volunteer hours when you sign up for our next virtual Turkey Drive.
