To ensure that children weren’t forgotten during the summer months, we launched Feeding Our Future 2020: Resource Kits for Children and Families.
From July to August, our teams of volunteers and partners assembled and distributed 1,600 kits a week to families across the GTA. This “Camp in a Box” was filled with ingredients for healthy lunches, activities, and a food education resource.
The summer program may be ending but you can still check out the Rainbow Plate fun food sheets below – they make great resources for at-home learning:

We would like to recognize the invaluable contributions of our key program partners:
Kitchen 24: Kitchen 24 generously hosted Second Harvest and our volunteers in their space to store and pack these family wellness kits 5 days per week. We are so thankful for the accommodations they made for us to make this program a success.
Rainbow Plate: Janet Nezon of Rainbow Plate is supporting children and youth in our communities by providing food literacy resources, web content, and food-related recreation for families receiving these kits.
And a giant thank you so much to our generous supporters of the Feeding Our Future for making this program possible: President’s Choice Children’s Charity, George Weston Ltd. and Weston Foods, Tippet Foundation, CUPE 3902, Otto & Marie Pick Foundation, Hasty Cart, and Sofina
